Today Tonight Taxi Fare Rort Story

Today tonight ran a story on tonight’s program about taxi drivers rorting the system. The claims where that drivers are regularly driving out of their way to increase the fare and over charge passengers.

It was especially prevalent they said with disabled clients.

I just want to point out for the benefit of both the taxi owners/drivers in Perth and for their customers that the taxis in question were in South Australia not Western Australia.

That is not to say drivers in Perth always do the right thing and I know of at least one driver who is no longer in the industry because he made it a habit to rip off his passengers.

I just wanted to clarify that Perth was not the city involved in the news article.
