Update: Taxi Plate

Well I’ve spoken to the installation guys and the van is booked in for the cab equipment to be installed at 8am on Wed the 21st November. Then it’s a bit of a race against time to get on the road by 4pm Friday.

The installation will take at least one full day but there is a chance it will take longer and I wont get it back till lunch time thursday.

From there I need to have it examined by the licensing dept. Then it’s off to the Taxi unit to sign the lease papers and pay them their money (lease fee, plate fee, etc), finally it’s off to another dept on the other side of town to get the taxi plate and actually attach it to the van.

At that point I’ll be allowed to start work and the funny thing is even though it’s going to be a 14hr shift I think it will be a welcome relief from all the running around and stress etc.

I found out the new plate number today I’m getting |Taxi 8244| nice easy number to remember.

  2. Yes good luck on your new venture. Never heard of the idea of peak period only cabs before but it sounds a good idea

  3. Thanks for that Bob. I’ve done some checking and it seems we have had the peakie cabs since the mid 90’s with approximately 200 of them operating currently. If your interested a break down of taxi numbers is available on the DPI website here
